St John's Wort
(Hypericum perforatum)

St John's Wort is an aromatic perennial herb belonging to the family Hypericaceae. It brings forth golden yellow flowers that seem to be particularly abundant on June 24, the day traditionally notable as the birthday of John the Baptist.

This is where it gets it's name, St. John's wort. This herb is native to Europe but is found throughout the United States.

St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is widely used to promote well-being and emotional health.

St. John's wort is one of the most useful European medicinal plants for treating nervous problems. Herbalists have long used it as a tonic for anxiety, tension and depression in both humans and animals. It is also a valuable herb when used as a tonic for the liver and gallbladder.

Externally, it is used for wounds and burns and is an excellent antiseptic.
