With the correct training methods, your dog will make a first-class family pet, be great around other animals, and serve as a watchdog without being too aggressive. Among the most important aspects of Rottweiler training is socialization, which is broken down into three parts. If your dog is socailized correctly, it will become accustomed to not just people but also other dogs, cats, and other animals.

First of all is puppy socialization, which has the biggest impression on the dog. With this, the socialization process should commence with the breeder and then be carried on by the owner until the dog reaches six months of age. Puppy socialization calls for playing with the puppy, handling the puppy, acquainting the puppy with people, animals, and situations, and so forth.

The next step socialization training happens between six months and three years of age when the dog is an adolescent. During this time, your Rottweiler will go through an awkward stage, both physically and emotionally. You'll have to work with your dog every day, taking him to the park, for walks around the neighborhood, and demonstrating to him that the outside world is not a scary place.

The third part of socialization is when the Rottweiler is an adult, assisting him contain his assertive or fearful nature.

Occasionally, you may see the Rottweiler adopting a rude or stuborn attitude, which is him trying to take the lead. Once more, placing yourself in that role will attend to the problem.

When your Rottweiler acknowledges that he is the follower and that your position is the leader, he will actually feel less agitated and more at ease. Then the Rottweiler will find it easy to relax and simply enjoy being with his master.

To produce this relationship, you have to be firm but also furnish positive reinforcement during Rottweiler training phases in the form of treats and praise.

You must avoid negative reinforcement, which will only agitate the dog, making him feel stressed and anxious As you will be able to guess, this would make Rottweiler training a lot more difficult. You don't need to overpower the dog but use proven training methods so that the dog realizes his position in your family pack.
