Dog Jewelry - Get it Right

If you really want to dress your pooch up in dog jewelry, that's fine. There are all sorts of different pieces from fancy dog collars, ribbons and bows and even dog tiaras for the long haired breeds. But please, don't put a pink ribbon on your big butch bull dog, he'll not thank you for it.

A lot of the dog jewelry worn by pets belonging to celebrities is very expensive. Gold dog jewelry, silver dog jewelry and dog jewelry made of pearls can all be bought but will set you back hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Not the sort of thing to go sniffing around the park in.

Cheaper versions are also available and you'll not need to call in the police if your dog comes home with an earing missing.

O.K., so ladies can look great in jewelry, but just remember what sort of dog breed you have and match the jewelry accordingly.

For the larger, macho dogs like bull dogs and bull terriers, a thick studded collar is probably a good choice, but with the smaller, more delicate breeds, people tend to dress them in the most fashionable dog jewelry they can find.

So if you've got a toy poodle or a bichon frise, by all means buy a diamond tiara. But if you've got a bulldog, get him a tattoo instead. (only joking)
