Dog Bed - Fashion and Comfort

The main purpose of a dog bed is to provide comfort, support and privacy for your dog when he's resting. They also keep your dog off the furniture when you've trained him to use the bed as his own special place.

An ideal place for a dog bed would be away from the major hustle and bustle of your house. Perhaps in a corner where your dog can rest undisturbed but still be able to see what's going on around him. This way he still feels involved with the family but can relax in peace.

The size of a dog bed is an important thing to consider when thinking about the comfort of your dog.

Don't buy a large dog bed for your puppy because he won't feel as secure as he will in a smaller one where he can snuggle down and feel protected on all sides.

Some dogs like to stretch out when they are resting but others prefer to curl up with their tail covering their nose to keep warm.

Think about the sleeping habits of your dog when choosing a bed for your pet.

Fancy or Functional

Exotic dog beds resembling our own can be bought from designer shops for the fashion conscious dog owner. Some of these are actually pieces of furniture and it's more difficult to reposition them in different parts of the house.

Buying a designer dog bed does not always take into consideration the comfort of the dog, so don't buy one just as a fashion statement.

A good functional dog bed will usually be a better choice, keeping in mind the requirements of your particular dog.

The inside of the dog bed needs some consideration, flea repellent fillings can be a good idea and make sure the cover is removable and washable to keep your dog clean and happy.
